30 Days of Truth: I am fearfully and wonderfully made

Truth #3:  I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

The Lie:  I am not enough.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:13-14 NIV

This truth took a while, and it is still a struggle for me.  The “I am not enough!” lie is very loud, shows up often and can be very specific.

“I am bad.”

“I am fat.”

“I am messed up.”

“I am _________.”

The words that fill in the blank may change but the general feeling is that something is wrong with me.

Body image, mirrors and bathing suits can send me over the deep end quick. Making a mistake or upsetting anyone leads to a downward spiral. Being angry feels awful. The sarcastic thoughts in my head are so mean. What is wrong with me? I am not enough.

But God.

He can transform our thoughts with His truth. With His help, we can let go of old coping mechanisms and embrace healthy habits and thinking.

Nothing changes who we are and who He made us to be… HIS WONDERFUL CREATION.

Let’s say it together:

He created me, all of me.

I am unique, one of a kind.

I am wonderfully made.

I am enough.

For You shaped me, inside and outYou knitted me together in my mother’s womb long before I took my first breathI will offer You my grateful heart, for I am Your unique creation, filled with wonder and awe.You have approached even the smallest details with excellence; Your works are wonderful; I carry this knowledge deep within my soul. Psalm 139:13-14 VOICE

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.  John 8:32 NIV
