High Things and Strongholds

As women found their places in the sanctuary for the Beth Moore Simulcast, the praise and worship began and the sound was soothing to my soul.  My heart was smiling with joy when Beth Moore brought a powerful message to beautiful women about “being female well.”

Being Female Well.

There is so much packed in those three words!  So. Much.   There were three sessions and in each one I filled my pages with notes, and hope filled me.  In the first session, she talked about how we say we want to hear from God, and we want Him to reveal Himself, and he is saying back to us, “Respond!”  Then she asked us, “What will you do with what you God says to you today?”

Sweep!

There were seven points, but the one that is still piercing my heart is point #4:

Sometimes a woman needs a clean sweep to find what she is missing!

Sweep and ye shall find!

“Sweep and ye shall find!  Mop and the door shall be opened unto you!”    She even illustrated with a broom.  She was referring to removing all of the clutter, noise, and distractions from our life so we can hear from the Lord.

It reminded me of my recent post about Webs, and how I prayed this prayer, “God blow into every corner.  Show me where I struggle.  Shine your light on my webs.  Lord, help me to see, and help me to obey you.”  {Sweep those cobwebs!}

It reminded me that I need to set aside more time to listen, and to be still.  I need to get a broom, and sweep.  I need to get a mop, and clean.

Her message was on time and I have no doubt that each woman walked away thinking, “Wow, that was for me!”   Towards the end, the question she posed to us was to fill in this blank… “I believe God brought me to the simulcast today to __________.”  My mind filled with words to finish that sentence over and over.

But the Big Word that filled that blank was SWEEP!

I came home that night exhausted but awake.  I had a hard time falling asleep and when I finally fell asleep, I woke up suddenly and sat straight up in bed.  I heard the song “Victor’s Crown” as if it was playing loud in the room.  It was one of the songs they played twice at the simulcast.   It was so loud I wanted to turn it down and was looking for the remote when I realized it was coming from my head.  LOUD.  It was so real, and it was loud!  My husband slept peacefully beside me, as it blared:

“Every high thing must come down,

every stronghold shall be broken.

You wear the Victor’s Crown!

You overcome.  You overcome.”

It was such a powerful moment.  I tweeted it at 2:48am because I didn’t want to forget, or wake up later thinking it was a dream.  It was big.   I even wrote that out as my prayer request at church the next day.  The song is still playing on repeat, and He is still showing me my High Things, and my Strongholds. Deliver me Lord.

What about you?

Did her point on “Sweeping” make an impact on you?

Listen to song below:  “Victors Crown”.  What does it mean to you?  Ask God:  “Lord, what are my High Things?  What are my Strongholds?”

If you watched the simulcast what did God show you?  How are you responding?

He is faithful to answer.  He is faithful to set us free!

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV)

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

  1. I’m so glad you were blessed, Michelle! Often you express the longings, desires, and prayers I feel in my own heart. I have so many strongholds I hang onto, and I definitely need a clean sweep from God daily. But we will overcome because He has given us the victor’s crown! Thanks for breathing encouragement into my heart today! ❤️

  2. Isn’t it good to know that Jesus our Savior wears the victor’s crown? Claiming and proclaiming Ephesians 1:22, “All this energy issues from Christ: God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, NO NAME AND NO POWER exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but FOREVER. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything.” (MSG) Thank you for your post!
