o my soul

I made a journal of song lyrics with a boombox (Cassette tape player) on the first page –  It looks just like the silver boombox I used to have where I would press play and pause over and over listening to lyrics and writing them out.

I put Pandora on the 80’s/90’s and when a song came on that connected to a moment in time for me, I printed out the lyrics – then cut and pasted them like this.
I had about 27 songs in there.  They were deep connecting songs.  When I went through them and pieced together the lyrics with the memories or why I picked that song – something started happening.  It was like saying it out loud opened a box of emotions.
I started to hurt.
Really hurt.
I cried that whole afternoon.  I could not shake it.  I questioned motives and intentions of others and it hurt.
I started to feel.
…and it hurt.
…and I sunk.
spiraling downward…
Falling slowly…
We made it through Friday and left for the beach.   Oh, how I have longed for the ocean. Hearing the waves and the sounds, and the smells, touching the sand and the oh the sights!  It is good for my soul.  We woke up early to drive there to see the sunrise.  It was so beautiful…
And when we saw it we sang 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord) by Matt Redman….The sun comes up its a new day dawning, its time to sing your song again.  Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me…Let me be singing when the evening comes.  Bless the Lord, O my soul.
O my soul.
Worship His Holy Name.
Sing like never before, O my soul…I’ll worship your Holy Name.
O my soul.
Psalm 103:1-5  The Message
O my soul, bless God.
From head to toe I will bless his holy name!
O my soul, bless God.
don’t forget a single blessing!

He forgives your sins – every one
He heals your diseases – every one.
He redeems you from hell – saves your life!
He crowns you with love and mercy – a paradise crown.
He wraps you in goodness – beauty eternal.
He renews your youth – you’re always young in his presence.
