Backpacking

We all have baggage.
It’s not going anywhere.
If we just put it behind us
and look up
and go where he leads,
It’s lighter

Or, we can put it in front of us
on the ground
and look down at it
and stare.
We can kick it with our feet
and it barely moves
It’s so heavy!!!

We can push it with our hands
or pull it.

It’s so heavy….
Exhausting.

This baggage that we all have
just needs to be picked up
sorted through
Held up and acknowledged
to the Most High.
Then, as we carry it
behind us
It’s lighter
We are reminded of
His goodness
His faithfulness
His tenderness
We can move forward
Eyes up in Obedience
as He guides our steps
Shields us
Gives us strength for each day.

Hebrews 12:1-3 The Message (MSG)

Discipline in a Long-Distance Race
Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!
