His Eye Is On This Sparrow

On Thursday, I went to my counseling session with my box in hand.  I wanted to show it to her in private.  I didn’t think I could share it with others.  I told her about praying the night before and lifting my head and praying loud.  I told her about the prayer being answered and about Joy coming to the conference.  I was excited about going to the conference and I anticipated a great message.  If there could be a joyous, happy session – this was close.  Yet, as I left and got into the car I was overcome with fear and anxiety.  I don’t think I made it far down the road and the tears fell…again. Then, the radio said – Lauryn Hill and I turned it up.  I loved Lauryn Hill in college.  The Fugees were one of my favorites.  I even named my first pet parakeet – Fugee!   The song was by her and Tonya Blount and it is from the movie Sister Act 2. You can find it on YouTube with some pink sky action here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiEsgaiLixA .  I have not been able to find the exact song on iTunes, but I found a close version.  The song was His Eye Is On The Sparrow and yes I have heard it many times before.

But not like this.

I was driving in direct sunlight singing at the top of my lungs – “I sing because I’m happy!  I sing because I am free – His eye is on the sparrow – For I know He watches me….”

It. Was. Worship.

It. Went. Deep.

So, on Tuesday, I had planned to take a really big step.  I looked in my rear-view mirror and became overwhelmed and just as I looked ahead, this is what I saw – and it remained long enough for me to find my phone and take the picture.

Even in the Fire Lane – His Eye is on the Sparrow…

Luke 12:6-7 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.  Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
